FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - July 19, 2010

ICON Announces 5th Annual Convention

Hyannis, NE---- If raising cattle here in the great state of Nebraska and being your own boss are important to you, you might want to check into the Independent Cattlemen of Nebraska (ICON) organization.

The ICON Board of Directors are planning the fifth annual ICON Convention, Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at the Sandhills Convention Center, North Platte, NE. The morning session includes a Nebraska State Senators' Panel. The afternoon session will have timely speakers and the evening banquet is a time to get acquainted with other ICON members. More information will be available soon.

Registration fees for this year's ICON convention will be $50. If the 2010 yearly ICON dues of $50 are included with the registration, a discount of $10 can be taken off the registration fee. Additional guests accompanying a paid registration can register for $20. Evening banquet fees are extra for all registrations. Registrations for overnight accommodations can be made by calling the Convention Center at 1-800-760-3333 or 1-308-532-9090.

ICON Directors have been very busy this year, working closely with their lobbyist Jim Pappas and spending some time in Lincoln; holding a meeting for members to spend some time talking with Fred Stokes of the Organization of Competitive Markets; and are in the middle of planning a bus tour to take producers to Fort Collins, Colorado, for the DOJ/USDA Workshop, Friday, August 27, 2010.

ICON realizes the importance of this meeting and what a tremendous opportunity this is for cattlemen to speak up. Each bus holds 56 passengers and ICON is asking for advance reservations in order to determine number and routes of buses. Buses will leave the night before the meeting. ICON is currently working on sponsors to pay for the cost of the buses. Producers will be responsible for their overnight stay and meals. The deadline for reserving a seat is August 6th.
Producers, showing up in large numbers at the meeting will send a clear message to our government that there is a problem with the current market practices and it needs to be fixed. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We must make whatever sacrifice is necessary to be at this workshop, the future of our industry depends on our participation.

If you are interested in traveling with other like-minded producers and having your voice heard please contact Destry Brown, Executive Director of ICON at 308-458-2244 to reserve your seat.
More details to follow once the buses are filled.
